Stop Worrying About Him!!

I believe that too many times in our lives we are worried about the wrong person. Far too many people spend too much time spooking themselves, by watching their competitors! They watch the other person’s strengths so intently that they forget that they have strengths that are just as valuable! Because, they stop focusing on themselves they end up losing or winning but not as decisively as they should have.

People that don’t know me, often look at me weirdly because I have no clue of who the huge celebrity is that they are talking about. Of course my friends don’t because they are use to it and know I don’t watch T.V. Vick Irvin use to always find entertainment out of messing with me about it. She would say “OH! I already know Marshall doesn’t know who he is, and I BET HE’s PROUD of IT!! Who does that!! What a creep!!” Lol I’m laughing just typing it because she said it so many times I can hear her voice! I’m not into people and things at all!! I don’t care if it’s the president. I remember my mom making comments as long as I can remember about not being afraid of anyone, she would often say “They bleed, pee, and put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do!” I also never want to treat people or their needs as if they aren’t important because of their status or lack of.

I remember being at a party talking with Brandon Vera a couple years ago and Vicki walks up and says Brandon you know if he didn’t already know you he would be like, I Don’t know No Brandon Vera!! Lol it was hilarious because she was imitating my voice and mannerisms. I rarely ever watch fights unless it’s one of my teammates, friends or a big main event, like Anderson Silva or Mayweather.

When I look back on the fights that I have won that went to the decision, I know that I should have ended the fight. I know that I didn’t because I gave to much respect to what I knew about them. I made them a lot bigger in my mind long before the fight. I prefer to be as prepared as I can in every realm. I like for my coaches to prepare me for what they have seen and don’t tell me about it. That way I’m just learning without any stressors.

It was funny because after my last fight I talked to my opponent and he said I didn’t expect that. We were focused on the fact that you had 8yrs of boxing experience. I laughed and told him that I had only dedicated a little over a year to boxing because I couldn’t grapple due to injuries. I’ve probably spent 80% of my time over the years doing and studying jiu jitsu. He definitely should have focused on himself because if it was going to be a boxing match, there is no way he would have been able to duplicate my speed, power, and technique at my weight. Not to mention that I get to train with, watch, and get trained by the same coaches who train Gary Russell Jr. 16-0, with 10 knockout, whom is predicted to pass Mayweather. Seeing this type of speed on T.V. is no comparison to seeing it and getting hit with it!! Not to mention his younger brothers!

In preparation for one of my boxing matches we prepared for the one punch that we knew the guy was winning all his fights with. It did no good. I lost that match. I got dropped by the exact punch. The thing about it was we landed our best punches at the same time. Looking back at the film I didn’t throw my best punch properly. I will always wonder if I had spent time that fight working what I was best at and not worrying about what he was best at would the fate had been different? I also saw him fight later and kicked myself in the Butt because if we fought 100 times after that I would win all of them easily.

I’ve noticed also that Mayweather says he doesn’t watch other fighter, also without Gary Russell Jr. knowing my thoughts on it he told me that he doesn’t watch boxing at all unless it’s a big main event. While training with one of my Muay Thai instructor Master Sam about a month out from my last fight, not knowing my thoughts on it he said the same things but more in debt. I wish I had caught that on tape but here is him summarizing his speech for me on camera right after he had finished. Below

What challenges have you approached in your as if they were giants, because of fear planted by other or things? How many of them do you now realize that even though they had a bite, they were only ants!!

BIGGER QUESTION!! How many things have you not attempted because something has planted fear in your life?

This is The TV Version Of My Last Fight, it’s A lot Clearer

A friend recorded it for me from her camera while watching it on Comcast last Tuesday. I made it there right after it had gone off. I’m glad she recorded if, because I wouldn’t have seen it. It airs again on next week the 26th on Comcast Sport Net CSN. I fight again next month July 22nd. I have a lot of weight to lose to get back down. After the weigh ins my body started sucking everything back up. I’ve weighed more this past month than I have ever in Life!!! I’m not looking forward to these tiny portions of food and drinking all of this water!! I might as well shut up about it because I gotta do it!!!!
