My Body Forced Me To Take Today Off!!

     I’ve been getting ready for my first MMA fight back in a little over 3 yrs. I will be fighting this month April 30th at 135 lbs this will be my pro debut. My body forced me to take the day off today. During the training last night at Evolve Academy It felt like I had been holding heavy weight while just holding my hands up to my face. Boy did it burn!! I was just taking punches and kicks instead of throwing any myself. It was like I was in slow motion! It also burns in my thighs to walk stairs.

     Out of concern most of the night Master Mike would ask me do you need to sit out, are you ok? After the training was over he asked me did I think the weight cut was to much for me. Last week when I got on the scale I had gained 12 pounds. Immediately I knew why. I had been eating tater tots for every meal for about a week. I’m super broke and my good friend Ms. Brooks had just so happened to give me a ten pound bag of tater tots, no cost. So, I cut down to green, chicken, peanut butter and rice cakes. In the next couple days I lost 11 lbs. So last week when I was exhausted I knew why, because I don’t know the first thing about cutting weight because I never had to.

     The last couple of day I got with my good friend Goerge Lockhart with ForFightersByFighters.com , he’s the best in the game at cutting weight! He’s does a lot of fighters cuts including UFC Champion John “Bones” Jones. Since getting on the special plan the the last couple days I have lost six more pounds and felt better than I had ever remembered!! Seriously!!! Master Mike told me that I should contact him and I said that I was just about to! George’s response was ” There’s no amount of nutrition that can help if you don’t sleep bro. You NEED at LEAST 8 hrs. If you don’t get it you’re not going to recover!!!!

     A couple days prior when making out my plan he asked about my sleep hrs. I explained to him that I normally go to bed around 3 or 4 am. He told me then, that I must get rest. I was trying to but my body is a little weird with sleep. It always has been. If I get up or go to bed at a certain time it takes about a week to get back to normal. Also if I’m sleep in the night and someone wakes me up I can’t go back to sleep. Nor can I sleep with any noises, like T.V. , radio ect. See, I work security at clubs on the weekends and my body gets set on that time. So when Monday morning rolls around I still have to get up for my Muay Thai training at 7 am. So I normally get at most 3hrs and then a 1 or 2hr nap during the day.

     So last night I made sure to take a muscle relaxer around 9pm while sitting in the car, so I could get some rest. I finally fell a sleep after 1am. I slept for about 11hrs today. I decided to take the day off to try and let my arms and legs stop burning. Sitting in the car last night for about 30 minutes before I headed home I felt so exhausted an tired, and felt as if I was having a break down. I thought of a sermon I had heard Keith Battle preach a couple yrs ago that basically said never get too tired, too hungry, or too lonely because it has major effects on your decision making and perception. I was all of the above!! In this sermon he explained how tired Elijah was after he ran from Jezebel.

Well I finally had time to Blog today LOL!!
